Erik, this sounds very interesting. It sounds a lot like EMDR. Are they related processes?

That is a good question, Dave. They are not generally considered related processes, per se. But, I can see similarities in that both approaches involve the stimulation of the two brain hemispheres. My understanding is that the right hemisphere is associated with emotional and sensory processing, while the left is tied to logic and language. By stimulating both hemispheres simultaneously through eye movements, tapping, or tones (with EMDR therapy) the patient can more effectively process trauma. The Gateway Experience by Hemisync seeks to help achieve brain hemispheric synchronization to ultimately improve mental processing, creativity, and stress reduction.
